Our Story

JJC Hire Ltd is a Cumbrian success story. From humble beginnings in Barrow-in-Furness, we started business in 2010 with 5 employees and 2 wagons. In 2022 we are proud to be Cumbria’s largest commercial waste operator, processing nearly 94,000 tonnes of waste last year.

With a real and ongoing commitment to invest in our people and services, through training and development, we now operate with over 60 employees, managing over 5,000 skips with a specialist fleet of 50 vehicles. We have expanded our offering to meet our customer’s needs, including commercial road sweeping, our own weighbridge, waste haulage and specialist hazardous waste and asbestos disposal.

Our team here at JJC are experts in waste management solutions. As a customer-focused company, our staff are all highly trained and passionate about providing exceptional levels of customer service, offering advice and guidance to ensure the waste needs of our clients are met in the most efficient, cost effective and environmentally friendly manner.

Committed to becoming more environmentally friendly, we are constantly looking for ways to divert as much waste as possible from landfill, currently recycling 97% of the waste we process, and aiming to increase this in the future. To aid our mission, we have installed low-carbon-producing, biomass boilers at our head office in Barrow-in-Furness to reduce our use of fossil fuels.
